Internationalization of Orfama

Orfama’s internationalization process began around three decades ago and has proven to be an important strategy for increasing sales and improving turnover figures in a world that has become increasingly globalized and competitive. We have gained several benefits from this internationalization process, as it has enabled us to start exploring business in other countries and the opportunity to start working with new markets that had not yet been explored. This was only possible through participation in fairs and events, such as congresses, seminars, workshops and lectures, etc., which have always been part of our product promotion itinerary due to the quality of visitors to this event.

This new vision of doing business enabled us to work with new seasonal markets in which the company operated, thus reducing dependence and vulnerability to the risks inherent in being part of an increasingly global and competitive market.

At first, it was not an easy task. We had to understand a series of requirements imposed by institutions in the countries of origin and destination, as well as by our customers themselves, in order to compete in international markets. However, this process allowed the company to have the opportunity to create a reputation as a global reference, with the quality of an “exporting company”, and in this way, allowed customers to have much greater security when making purchases and, consequently, more competitive advantages over our main competitors.

Today, our international activity represents more than 98% of our turnover, and we export to more than 30 countries on 5 continents.

BSCI certification demonstrates ethical and responsible social commitment, ensuring fair working conditions. GOTS certification promotes the use of organic fibres and environmentally friendly production and processing processes. RWS certification ensures the welfare of sheep for wool production. GRS certification ensures that textiles are recycled with additional environmental and social criteria.
